Fish pass at the VERBUND Danube power plant Jochenstein

The border power plant at Jochenstein on the Danube is getting a modern fish pass as part of LIFE Blue Belt Danube Inn.

The Danube power plant Jochenstein was put into operation in 1956. With its imposing architecture, it is a symbol of the region. The location for the power plant was deliberately chosen to mitigate a risky point for shipping between Bavaria and Upper Austria. As part of the project LIFE Blue Belt Danube Inn, the power plant will be equipped with a near-natural fish pass. A bypass river of 3.5 kilometres in length removes all obstacles for fish and offers space for all kinds of aquatic life.
